Pinterest signup is simple. Open www.pinterest.com. You will see the option to ‘continue with Facebook’ or enter your email id and create a password to sign up.
If you choose the first option, you will have to log in to Facebook (if your device isn’t already logged into it) and you will be asked if it is okay for Pinterest to receive your public profile, friend list, email address, birthday, personal description and likes. You can edit the info you provide but ultimately you can either cancel the whole thing or click ‘okay’. Click ‘okay’.
You will be signed up and asked to select 5 topics (or more) to follow so that a home feed can be built for you. Then, you will be asked if you would like to get the Pinterest browser button. If you click ‘get it now’, a box will pop up, asking you to add the extension. Once you do, you will get a confirmation and you will see the ‘Pin it’ button on the right side of your browser. A web page will open telling you how to save a link, map a place, bookmark an article, etc. If you skip getting the button, you will be taken to your home feed straightaway.
If you enter your email id and enter the password you wish to use, you will be asked to enter your full name, age and gender. You will also be asked whether you would like to customize your signup experience using information from sites you have visited (using cookies to note your visits). Once you click the signup tab, you will be taken through all the steps in the paragraph above.
How to Login to Pinterest
- Go to www.pinterest.com and click on the ‘login’ tab. You will get the option of logging in through Facebook/Twitter/Google Mail/your email id and password.
- If you choose any of the first three options, and your device is not logged in to these websites already, you will have to log in to them. Or, you can choose the last option, enter your email id and password, and go straight to your home feed.
- If you enter the wrong password, you will be told so. If you have forgotten it, you can click on the ‘forgot password’ tab. On entering your username or email id, you will be sent a link to reset your password.
- If you enter the wrong email id, you will be told that the email id does not belong to any account. Maybe you had signed up with another email id or just typed in the wrong spellings.
If you are using your smart phone or a tablet to sign up or login, the steps remain the same but you will have to download and install the Pinterest app first. If you are using an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iTouch) go to App Store and if you are using an Android device go to Google Play Store. Type ‘Pinterest’ in the search bar and when you see the right app, click on it. Tap ‘install’. Once the app has finished installing, you can click on ‘open’ to open the app and then follow the relevant steps given above.
